WEEKLY TASKS FOR THIS CLASS....
These are time sensitive. You do not receive credit if you write them after the deadline each week.
First, there's a blog entry (about 250 words) which will have you respond to a hopefully thought-provoking question. Each week, you must do the blog entry with enough time left in the week to be able to enter into dialogue online with your classmates. Write, reply, write more, reply more, and then write and reply more.
Second, there's a reading. There’s no blog entry associated with this. Just read.
Third, there's a written response to the reading. Your reading and writing on the blog must be completed by the SATURDAY (by midnight) of the week in which the reading falls. This entry should be a long paragraph. YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESPOND TO OTHER STUDENTS' PART THREE EACH WEEK.
Hi everyone!
ReplyDeleteI thought this article was very interesting because of all the statistics it provided the reader with. It is a very interesting and new topic to research and learn more about because it is not talked about a lot everyday.
I really enjoyed this article. This topic is definitely something I'd like to get more information on. Many believe that immigration will cause an inequality in wages; however, like in this article, there isn't enough information to back up either beliefs. The author mentioned of the marielitos who came to the US in the 1980s and how they were high school dropouts and had very low skills. Yet, there are people who are citizens in the US and are dropouts as well. Also, the people who take the jobs that pay $7.25 an hour are mostly by the immigrants because they simply want jobs to support their own families and that is all they can qualify for due to the lack of education they have. They are doing US citizens a favor for doing the jobs us citizens wouldn't consider doing because they pay so low. Thus, We simply cannot say that immigrants increase inequality.
