WEEKLY TASKS FOR THIS CLASS....
These are time sensitive. You do not receive credit if you write them after the deadline each week.
First, there's a blog entry (about 250 words) which will have you respond to a hopefully thought-provoking question. Each week, you must do the blog entry with enough time left in the week to be able to enter into dialogue online with your classmates. Write, reply, write more, reply more, and then write and reply more.
Second, there's a reading. There’s no blog entry associated with this. Just read.
Third, there's a written response to the reading. Your reading and writing on the blog must be completed by the SATURDAY (by midnight) of the week in which the reading falls. This entry should be a long paragraph. YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESPOND TO OTHER STUDENTS' PART THREE EACH WEEK.

Birds, water, the ocean calls me.
Here is another: The fire destroys, green grass brown.
See the pattern? 6 words...environmental theme.
Create a 6 word poem and then comment on others that you see on here. Easy, right?
Ocean, pelicans, waves, sunset, relaxes me.
ReplyDeleteBeing at the beach watching the sunset and hearing the waves roar is definitely a way to escape reality and relax.
DeleteHi Veronica!
DeleteI can definitely agree with you on that one! I could go on a beach trip right now!
I know right, a trip to the beach could help us relax before finals.
DeleteI enjoyed your six word poem. I wish I was at the beach right now relaxing (: Instead, I am getting ready to go to work. But anyways, great poem!
DeleteThe sense of relaxation that gives an individual. The beaches is one of my most favorite places. Love your six word poem!(:
DeleteHi Veronica, I enjoyed your poem because I pictured myself relaxing in the ocean listening to the waves.
DeleteThe beach is definitely a getaway for me. It is so peaceful and relaxing.
DeleteThanks guys for taking the time on reading my post.
DeleteSun, moon, stars, objects of perfection.
ReplyDeleteI agree!! Although, I sometimes become awestruck when I try to comprehend their their existence, size, and purpose. :)
DeleteYes, I totally agree with you on that!
DeleteWe will never know.
The objects in the sky are definitely perfection. Watching the sun rise and set and the moon taking over. And the stars that look so close but yet they are very far.
DeleteHi Claudia!
DeleteI love this six word poem! When I read it, it brought this sense of relaxation and soothness! Nice job!
Loved your poem! It's crazy how something so unknown and complex as outer space is real. It's almost like magic.
DeleteEveryone said the same thing, but I do think it is pretty crazy how something we perceive so small is actually thousands of years away and HUGE.
DeleteHi Claudia, I agree the stars and the moon are objects of perfection because they are amazing to look at. Sitting outside at night and watching the stars is something really relaxing for me after a long day at work and school.
DeleteThe poem reminds me of my summer school classroom. The kids were learning about the solar system, and they just had a blast.
DeleteLove this! =D
Deletethat was interesting :)
DeleteLightning, thunder, winds, the storm commences!
ReplyDeleteHi Jose!
DeleteThis six word poem is very dramatic! I like it! Nice job!
I agree with Jessica that your poem is very dramatic. As I read it, I picture one of those super power movies...that for each word, the individual is able to produce that type of weather.
DeleteI really liked your poem? It's funny because I not only pictured nature, but I also pictured something like people preparing for a battle. Great job!
DeleteI like your poem. I was attracted to the storm thing as well.
DeleteHi Jose, your poem consisted of all the things I do not like because storm, thunder, and lightining scares me. Even though they scare me I liked your poem!
DeleteJose,
DeleteLightning , thunder, and winds are some of my favorite things that nature brings. I always look forward to these days in the season.
Very good. Wish I wouldve came up with that
DeleteJose, I really like your poem! Thunder storms are the best and my favorite type of weather. The recent ones right before the mud slides were really beautiful.
DeleteJose, I enjoyed your poem. It reminded me of the storm we just had a few weeks back.
Deletekind of scary lol

the sky darkens, the moon shines.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your six word poem! Although we understand of such occurrence, I interpret it as... although we may be scared and worried, there are still many opportunities out there to help lighten our way.
DeleteI like how your poem encompasses both the darkness and the light. Very cool.
DeleteI like this one! Its very applicable to this time of year with halloween and autumn. It reminds me of how bright the moon was monday night. I love that the moon shines almost as bright as day during the full moon.
DeleteThank you Lorena, Bernie, and Savannah! My two favorite things that are part of this world are the moon and the sky.
DeleteRain, snow, wind, winter is coming.
ReplyDeleteThe three reasons i like winter time, good six word poem.
DeleteMe too! Winter is one of favorite seasons! Thank you Nick!
DeleteHi Jessica, I liked your poem because my favorite part about winter is the snow. I enjoy going to Bear Mountain !
DeleteI must agree with Nick! I really enjoy the winter's coldness.
DeleteThe wind whistles, the leaves dance.

DeleteI like the view and sense of feeling you get from your six word poem, very nice.
DeleteThis one is my favorite so far. I enjoyed the image and sound you created with your six word poem.
DeleteNick & Kimberly: Thank you! I thought it'd be difficult to come up with a poem, but surprisingly it came to me quite quickly. I figured since I love to dance, what in nature would represent a sense of music and movement.
DeleteThat's a good way to write a poem, relate it to something in your life, very nice.
DeleteI like the personification of the wind and the leaves. It really paints a picture in your head!
DeleteGood job, Lorena I really like your poem.
DeleteNick, Sylvia, Veronia: Thank you! I'm glad you guys enjoyed my short poem! =)

ReplyDeleteLeaves turn brown, trees fall down.
ReplyDeleteFall! Very nice six word poem Nick!
DeleteI like your poem, Simple yet at the same time it is kind of complex. When fall or winter comes, the trees almost seem invisible.
DeleteThank you Jessica and Ashlynne, I'm not one to write a poem but I think I managed to write an easy six word poem, and created one with many different images and interpretations.
DeleteYes definitely. I have never written a 6 word poem before kind of difficult for me ha.
DeleteI love this!
DeleteI liked that you wrote about fall without actually stating the word "fall." Very classy!
DeleteThank you Sylvia, my intent was to write about fall since that's the season were're currently in. I was able to look outside and come up with a six word poem relatively easy.

DeleteThat's how our lives go!
DeleteSnowflakes fall gently, chilly nights begin.
ReplyDeleteChilly nights are my favorite! Love it!
Deleteyou people are so poetic!
ReplyDeleteThese are really good!
Crisp warm sand beneath my toes.
ReplyDeleteI could definitely go for this sensation right now.
DeleteBlooming flowers bare necessities of life.
ReplyDeletewhat necessities does blooming flowers bring?
DeleteIt makes me think that when something is born it will have necessities to satisfy.
DeleteThe darkness falls, the nightlife calls
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think of batman! I don't know why, but it does. Maybe because he comes out at night to fight all the bad guys.
DeleteThis resonates with me, since I'm a night owl!
DeleteSmoky Mountains, fog, beautiful night life.
ReplyDeleteI love the mountains I think it is one of my favorite places to go.
DeleteLiked your poem! It's really beautiful when you go hiking in the morning, breathe the crisp air, and see the fog among the mountains disappear as dawn breaks.
DeleteI do love the mountains so much. I grew up in Tehachapi and right now with all of the fog up here the town looks like it is perfect for Halloween.
DeleteWhat I like about these poems is that they raise so many questions...the whole idea may have come from Hemingway...look up the origin of the 6 word memoir...his first 6 word memoir was this: for sale, baby shoes, never worn.
ReplyDeleteSee how it raises questions, makes the reader wonder?
Salty sea air, crazy curly hair
ReplyDeleteYep that definitely happens!
DeleteThis is totally true. I love the beach, but not what it does to my hair!
DeleteI agree! I have curly hair and when I am at the beach the salty air makes my hair all frizzy.
DeleteI'm happy to see I'm not the only one with this problem.
DeleteThe only reason why I hate the beach.. My hair is horrible usually haha.
DeleteHeat, ice, melt, melt, water, cold
ReplyDeleteMmmhmm....You have a very interesting and hard-to-decipher poem. I'm guessing that it's about the seasons changing: winter transitioning to spring. Am I sort of right?
Deleteyep that was the idea.
DeleteMiami, balmy, white sands, blue nostalgia
ReplyDeleteSky blue cries, as flowers bloom.
ReplyDeleteWith you, smiling, laughing, hoping, dreaming.
ReplyDeleteThe moon glows, sky so bright.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think you saw the moon the last few nights? It's been humongous and eerily beautiful.
DeleteI love night time especially when the moon lights up the whole sky.
Deletesky is dark, last light shines
